The Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC)

vsc.jpg

In the simplest terms, a vertebral subluxation occurs when one
or more of the bones of the spine move out of position and create
indirect pressure on spinal nerves.  This pressure causes the nerves
to malfunction and interferes with the messages traveling across
them.  Since the central nervous system, comprised of the brain
and the spinal cord, and these functions work synergistically, the
interference of just one of these nerves has the potential to hinder
multiple aspects of the physical condition.
A Doctor of Chiropractic locates these subluxations and reduces
or corrects them through a series of gentle adjustments.  Remember
the song, "The hip is connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone
is connected to the knee bone...?"  This is the essence of chiro-
practic and the Vertebral Subluxation Complex.  A problem in one
part of the body will transfer itself to another via the nervous
system, which will, ultimately, affect other parts of the body or
its systems.  Just one subluxation will affect the bones, nerves,
muscles and soft tissues (tendons, ligaments, etc.) as well as
their respective biochemicals, which in turn will adversely affect
the entire body and its wellness.
A chiropractor maintains the skeletal and neural intergrity of
the body without the use of drugs or invasive surgery.  It is a
conservative approach that furthers complete physical, mental
and social well-being, and is not satisfied merely with the
absence of disease or infirmity.
